Research direction

Start by reproducing the crash with the Mono build on Linux using hardened_malloc, then compare with the same build using the standard glibc allocator. The issue names no source files or tests; done means identifying and resolving the double-free or corruption so the Mono build launches without crashing under hardened_malloc.

Issue description

I only noticed this because I tried to run the binary on a hardened system. It should be reproducible on any Linux system using hardened_malloc, and some linting tools will probably detect it as well.

Redot Engine LTS v26.1.stable.mono.official.a3e85316f (2026-01-29 02:31:42 UTC) - https://redotengine.org
Inconsistent value (1) for DRI_PRIME. Should be < 1 (GPU devices count). Using: 0

double free or corruption (out)
Aborted (core dumped) .local/bin/redot_26_1_mono/redot.linuxbsd.editor.x86_64.mono

Everything works fine (as far as I can tell) on the same system if the binary is launched with the standard glibc memory allocator. Core dump is not available from this machine as they're disabled by default for security. Let me know if you need any additional info to help track down the issue.

Steps to reproduce

Launch the mono version of Redot 26.1 on any linux system using hardened_malloc. (You could use a virtual machine with secureblue on it or install hardened_malloc from the AUR on an Arch box and launch Redot with it.)
