Research direction

Examine scripts/convert_h5_to_taxsim.py to see how psemp values are converted from the source data. Open dashboard/public/sample_ecps_2024.csv and locate the 22 rows where psemp equals -9999. Decide whether to drop those rows or fix the conversion logic, then run the project's test suite to ensure the change doesn't break anything.

Description

2024

@feenberg here is the eCPS file from this repo, in TAXSIM-35 input format:

It has 56,356 households, all tax year 2024 (8.6 MB). It's built from PolicyEngine's enhanced CPS by scripts/convert_h5_to_taxsim.py, and it's the same file the dashboard uses for its sample eCPS run. Columns: taxsimid, year, state, mstat, page, sage, depx, pwages, swages, psemp, ssemp, dividends, intrec, stcg, ltcg, otherprop, pensions, gssi, pui, sui, scorp, proptax, mortgage, rentpaid, age1–age11.

One note: 22 records have psemp = −9999 exactly, which looks like a placeholder from the conversion rather than a real loss. You may want to drop or check those.
