Research direction

Start by comparing the reported 595-server-open version with 580-open-6.14.0-37-generic, using the attached nvidia-bug-report log and the external-monitor reproduction steps. The issue does not name a source file or test, so first identify which driver components handle GPU activity when an external display is connected. Done means explaining or fixing the increased GPU usage and verifying it no longer occurs with the reported setup.
