Research direction

Start by tracing how the library rescan handles albums without embedded artwork or local cover.jpg/folder.jpg files, and compare that fallback with how artwork is assigned to albums that have covers. Reproduce the issue with a mix of covered and bare album folders, then verify that bare albums show a placeholder or no image without inheriting another album’s cover. The issue does not name source files or tests, so locating the relevant code will require reading around the artwork handling path.

Description

Description:

When multiple albums in the media library lack embedded artwork or folder-level cover files (cover.jpg / folder.jpg), Lyrion Music Server occasionally fails to handle the fallback gracefully. Instead of displaying a default blank icon or leaving the artwork blank, LMS assigns an arbitrary cover image from a previously indexed album to subsequent albums that lack art.

Steps to Reproduce:

Import a batch of albums (e.g., classical compilations or downloads from providers like Naxos) where the files lack embedded metadata cover art and individual folder cover images.
Place a standalone cover.jpg in some album folders, but leave others completely bare of artwork.
Perform a library rescan in LMS.

Expected Behavior:

Albums without embedded artwork or local folder art should display a generic placeholder or no cover image, without cross-contaminating or inheriting artwork from entirely unrelated albums.

Actual Behavior:

Albums missing cover images randomly grab and display the artwork of the first available or previously scanned album in the library index.
