Research direction

Start at the bottom navigation tab click handling and page selection for Contacts, Favorites, and Call history; the issue names no files or tests, so first locate those entry points in the Android app. Check that tab taps, including tapping the selected tab, return the list to the top while swiping between pages preserves scroll position. The issue reports a working implementation on Android 10; confirm the behavior on all three lists.

Feature description

Tapping a bottom navigation tab should return its list to the top. This would apply to Contacts, Favorites, and Call history, both when switching to a tab by tapping it and when tapping the already selected tab.

Swiping between pages should preserve each list's scroll position. The jump should be immediate, rather than animating through thousands of rows.

Why do you want this feature?

With a large address book or long call history, returning to the top manually requires substantial scrolling. My test device has 3,520 contacts containing phone numbers and 1,608 call-log entries. A tab tap provides a quick way to get back to the beginning of a list.

Additional information

I have a working implementation based on Fossify Phone 1.11.1, tested on my Huawei LYA-L29 running Android 10. I verified that tapping the tabs returns their lists to the top and swiping between tabs preserves the scroll position.

The patch handles tab clicks separately from page selection and uses scrollToPosition(0) on the corresponding list. This is a usability improvement, separate from my performance fixes; I am not claiming a benchmark speedup for it.

I'd like to contribute this as a focused PR. Your contribution guidelines require the help wanted label before submission. Could a maintainer add it so I can open the PR?
