Research direction

Start with internal/litellmmigrate/providers.go to see how DeepInfra is currently mapped, then compare the named OpenAI-compatible provider setup for Fireworks, Chutes, or Kilo and the provider table in docs/providers/overview.mdx. Check how those providers configure API keys, base URLs, and supported endpoints. Done means DeepInfra has its own provider using the stated defaults, the table documents endpoint support, and the generic OpenAI workaround is documented.

Description

Summary

A user on the GoModel Discord asked whether DeepInfra is supported. Today DeepInfra has no dedicated provider: it isn't in the supported providers table (docs/providers/overview.mdx) and there's no DEEPINFRA_API_KEY env var. The only reference is the LiteLLM migration mapping (internal/litellmmigrate/providers.go), which maps deepinfra to a generic openai-type provider with base URL https://api.deepinfra.com/v1/openai.

Proposal

  • Register DeepInfra as a named OpenAI-compatible provider configured with DEEPINFRA_API_KEY (and an optional DEEPINFRA_BASE_URL, default https://api.deepinfra.com/v1/openai), like Fireworks, Chutes, or Kilo.
  • Add it to the supported providers table, including which endpoints work (chat, /responses, embeddings).
  • Until then, document the workaround: an openai-type provider in config.yaml pointing at DeepInfra's OpenAI-compatible base URL.
