Research direction

The payload names no file, test or code path; the requested change is a GitHub repository setting in EESSI/docs, which needs maintainer access. Before doing anything, check whether GitHub offers a setting that limits what git clone fetches, since the issue does not say where that setting lives. Done would be a maintainer confirming the chosen default, and the same check would need to be repeated for the other EESSI repositories.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Currently cloning the repository copies all existing branches.

This can be changed in the settings in GitHub to only copy/clone the main branch as most other branches won't be relevant for contributors.

The same should be checked for all other repos too
