Start at the /compact command entry point and trace the current compaction and notification flow. Add a clear in-progress indicator that appears immediately after the command starts, then verify that it remains understandable until the existing completion notification appears.

What problem are you trying to solve?

After executing /compact command there is no clear indicator that the conversation is being compacted which leads to run the command multiple times (the first time I hit it 3 times because I thought it wasn't running) until you receive the notification

What would improve it?

Add a clear indicator of conversation compaction. I'm attaching an example from ZCode:
