Research direction

Start by checking the referenced upstream commit 2ee9836545e6 and the VCE ring alignment code, especially vce_v3_0_ring_vm_funcs, in the kernel sources for linux-cachyos-lts and linux-cachyos 7.2. Confirm the align_mask change from 0xf to 0x1f and how kernel patches are carried in these branches. Done when the fix is included in both requested branches and Polaris VCE encoding no longer hangs.

Description

Since 6.18.46, hardware video encoding on Polaris (RX 580) hangs the GPU: ring vce0 timeout, then suspend of IP block <vce_v3_0> failed -22 and a GPU reset.

Cause: 6.18.46 picked up d5ab4c6a64ef ("drm/amdgpu: Implement insert_end for VCE 3") without its follow-up 2ee9836545e6 ("drm/amdgpu: Fix VCE 3 ring align_mask"), which raises vce_v3_0_ring_vm_funcs' align_mask from 0xf to 0x1f. The follow-up is in 7.3 and tagged for stable, but it is still missing in 6.18.57 and 7.2.11. 7.2 has the same bug: https://github.com/rustdesk/rustdesk/issues/16324

It's a one-line patch. Could linux-cachyos-lts and linux-cachyos 7.2 carry it until stable does? I've been stuck on 6.18.42 for several months now.
