Research direction

Start by locating compute_likelihood_surface and the documentation's likelihood surface plots. Compare the current use of log(R) versus R and inspect how filtering near the mode is handled. Done when the representation and filtering behavior are decided and the documentation plots reflect that decision.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

  • Revisit decision to use log(R) instead of R
  • Contemplate putting the filtering step back in to grey out likelihoods not sufficiently close to the mode. (Rectangles around the mode include some truly horrendous likelihoods, especially for when both R and k are at their joint maximum.)
    • Could perhaps add a convenience feature for automatic filtering in compute_likelihood_surface?

Shoutout to @swo for pointing this out.
