Problem
In large diffs, the viewer collapses unchanged regions ("N unmodified lines") and only renders the currently visible hunks (virtualization). Because of this, the browser's native find (Ctrl/Cmd+F) only searches text that is already in the DOM:
- If the code I'm looking for sits inside a collapsed or not-yet-rendered region, find returns 0 results.
- The match only becomes searchable after I manually scroll to that file and section.
This makes reviewing large changesets painful — I often know the exact symbol/function I want to check, but have to hunt for it by scrolling through every file.
Expected behavior
A search box in the UI that searches the underlying diff data (not the rendered DOM):
- Searches across all changed files and added/removed lines.
- Shows a result list with file path, line number, and a snippet.
- Clicking a result expands the collapsed region and jumps/scrolls to the exact line.
- Ideally supports regex and jumping between matches with Enter / Shift+Enter (like GitHub's PR review search, or
lesssearch insidegit diff).
