Motivation
ASCII helpers provide digit/letter/space checks and case conversion, but callers still repeat ASCII-range, hexadecimal-digit, control and printable-byte classification.
Starting points: std/string/ascii.wave.
Scope
Add a small coherent group of ASCII-only byte predicates, using existing naming style. Keep locale and Unicode classification outside this change.
Difficulty: easy.
Completion criteria
- Test every byte from 0 through 255 against explicit ASCII ranges.
- Cover boundary punctuation, DEL and non-ASCII bytes.
- Preserve all existing predicates and case-conversion behavior.
