描述
I'd like to be able to parse comments, similarly to stack overflow, only recognising a subset of markdown syntax: [link](http://example.com) *italic* **bold** code``, ignoring multiple paragraphs and different kinds of blocks.
I guess this would be _run_span_gamut, but ignoring image links. A particular interest is keeping the safe_mode functionality.
