Problem Statement
The dynamic island overlay creates cohesion, redundancy and performance issues on devices that already feature native status bar pills or dynamic islands.
Proposed Solution
Really enjoying the new beta update for Essentials—the Conscious Gate timer in the island overlay is a fantastic idea and genuinely useful for mindful screen time.
It's just that, for devices that already have a system-level dynamic island or status bar chip (ColorOS, HyperOS, OriginOS), having Essentials draw a secondary window overlay introduces redundant visual clutter and adds an extra HWC layer for the display to manage.
Would you consider adding an option to route events like the Conscious Gate timer, Calendar Events and Peek Song Change through native Android Live Updates?
