Start with the completion handling for ordinary variants and GADT constructors, which the issue says works at the same position, and compare it with extensible variant completion. Completion doesn't offer the constructors of extensible variants:
type attr = ..
type attr += Str(string) | Num(int)
// let a: attr = Nu
// ^ completion
Only the modules Null and Nullable are offered; Num is missing. Completion of ordinary variants and GADT constructors at the same position works.
