Have `Site.render` indicate if an exception was raised

描述
We have added that Site.render will handle exceptions raised during rendering but this means that what ever is calling Site.render will now no longer have a way knowing that there was an exception. We need to implement a method for Site.render to indicate that back to the caller. This should be done in a way that does not break existing installations.
