Is they app no longer developed?
What are my alternatives as a normal standard user with my own instance running on a hoster platform to have a good backup option like to an external storage?

Please let us know if there will ever be a handy (and not a SSH/Terminal) backup app in the future or of Nextcloud GmbH dropped this basic function. Without it I can not really convince family members to join Nextcloud. There must be an easy way for every (family admin) user to restore single files, have incremental backups without a big hassle. Should be with an user interface and easy to set up and to restore.
