- agent-drift - Finds every AI agent instruction file under a path and reports which copies have diverged from each other.
What it does
Teams accumulate copies of CLAUDE.md, .claude/skills/*/SKILL.md, AGENTS.md and their equivalents across repositories and machines. When one copy is edited, nothing errors - the agent simply behaves differently there. This script finds those files, groups the ones that are the same document by content similarity rather than by filename, and reports the groups that hold more than one distinct version.
- Single file, standard library only, Python 3.8+
- Reads only; never writes to the files it scans
- Covers Claude Code, Codex/AGENTS.md, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini, Windsurf, Cline, Aider, Continue, Zed
--fail-on-driftexits 1, so it can run in CI--jsonoutput for post-processing- MIT licensed
