An extension that reads what people type into AI chats has to earn trust. VPN extensions were caught collecting millions of people's AI chats (market research, 2026-10-10). Prompuff's extension and its host make no network requests, and that should be a check that fails, not just a promise.
What to do
- A CI check that fails when the extension's manifest asks for a permission or host permission outside a short allowed list, or when its code uses
fetch,XMLHttpRequest,WebSocket,EventSourceornavigator.sendBeacon. Give the check a positive control: a test case that proves it can fail. - The extension's pages carry a Content-Security-Policy with
connect-src 'none'. - The host is the
prompuffcommand, which already has no network code beyond what AGENTS.md allows. Make sure host mode adds none. - Each store listing (#48) names every permission and says why it's needed.
