TL;DR
Currently some workflows that add comments to issues rely on the gh CLI because of its ability to edit its last comment, allowing the agent to post a checklist and then subsequently check those boxes as it accomplishes tasks.
This issue tracks doing that all with the GitHub MCP, which has a dependency on the GitHub MCP supporting this --edit-last functionality, which is tracked in https://github.com/github/github-mcp-server/issues/980
