Black camera preview with Intel MIPI Camera

Start by reproducing the issue on elementary Camera 9.0.0 and comparing its GStreamer pipeline with the successful standalone v4l2src ! videoconvert ! videoflip pipeline, paying attention to decodebin, hflip, and DMA_DRM/NV12 negotiation. Locate the camera pipeline construction and run the provided GStreamer diagnostics inside the Flatpak. Done means the Intel MIPI preview renders correctly and the application no longer emits delayed-linking, not-negotiated, or not-linked errors.

What Happened?

After updating elementary Camera to version 9.0.0, the live preview for Intel MIPI Camera becomes black. The camera works correctly when I roll back to the previous version, so this appears to be a regression introduced in version 9.0.0.

I verified that the camera device is accessible inside the Flatpak and that video capture and rendering work independently. GStreamer can capture frames from /dev/video0, convert them to RGB, and display the live stream using both autovideosink and gtk4paintablesink.

The application's GStreamer debug log shows delayed linking failures between decodebin and hflip. The camera source negotiates DMA-BUF video caps with format=DMA_DRM and NV12, followed by not-negotiated and not-linked errors.

A standalone pipeline that converts the camera stream to ordinary RGB video before applying videoflip works successfully. This suggests a possible GStreamer caps-negotiation or pipeline compatibility issue in version 9.0.0.

Research for the root cause issue was done using an LLM for help, as I'm technical enough to understand there is an issue, but not enough well-versed in linux innerworkings to get to the possible root cause.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Install or update elementary Camera to version 9.0.0.
2. Launch the Camera application.
3. Select Intel MIPI Camera as the video source.
4. Observe the live preview (Black).
5. Roll back to the previous version of elementary Camera (Version: 8.0.2) and repeat the same steps (All working).

Additional diagnostic tests inside the Flatpak:

v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! videoconvert ! video/x-raw,format=RGB ! fakesink succeeds.

v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! videoconvert ! videoflip method=horizontal-flip ! video/x-raw,format=RGB ! fakesink succeeds.

Standalone tests using autovideosink and gtk4paintablesink display live camera video.

Expected Behavior

The Intel MIPI Camera should display a live preview in elementary Camera 9.0.0, as it does in the previous working version.

The application should correctly negotiate the camera's video format and link the GStreamer pipeline without delayed-linking, not-negotiated, or not-linked errors.
