The issue names no files, tests or entry points, and both the problem and the proposed solution read only 'Self-descriptive', so the scope has to be worked out before any code is written. Find where the training run starts and whether the codebase already has a validation or evaluation routine to reuse. Done means a validation pass runs before the first training step and reports its metrics, which a maintainer should confirm in the issue first.
