In this section, and the introduction, we will conduct a review of the status of open science in the country. The following are points that comprise the message of this section:

• What kind of resources are available to support open science
• Are there policies or incentives for open science practices?
• What kind of training activities have been conducted to promote and train students and researchers on open science tools and practices?

Data Mining
This section has tasks that access the publishing trends of Kenyan authors.

• What is the publishing trend by Kenyan researchers? Are they publishing open access, and how has this changed over the years?
• The adoption of pre-prints by Kenyan researchers. Who drives the adoption of pre-prints among Kenyan authors?
• Collaboration trends among Kenyan authors based on pre-prints data and already published research (from mining PubMed literature).
• Open data and Code. Are Kenyan authors making the data and code available and accessible, and are they adhering to the FAIR principles?

Low-Cost Open Access publishing
In this section, we explore some of the avenues to publishing open access at low cost, especially for students who want to publish open-access with little funding.

• Are there available waivers and subsidies for authors in developing countries (low income and lower middle income countries).
