The payload names no file, so start by searching the repository for the MongoDB find and aggregate read path that sets batchSize(1) on the cursor. Run any existing MongoDB read tests, or add one that counts round trips. Done means batches are bounded but hold many documents per round trip, and the byte budget still stops at the first document past the cap.

Byte-bounded MongoDB reads (find/aggregate with a result byte budget) set cursor.batchSize(1), so the driver fetches one document per network round trip. A read of ~127k documents took 6–11 minutes, most of it round-trip latency.
Expected: reply batches stay bounded while documents arrive many per round trip; the byte budget still stops the read at the first document past the cap.
