描述
We currently require that authors of Node-API modules place a "magic" react-native-node-api-module file to signal the prebuild is intended for auto-linking.
When #42 merge we could probably lift this requirement and consider any .apple.node or .android.node directory enabled for auto-linking.
A third option marked in the source
There is a TODO in the Apple prebuild path proposing a different resolution to the same question — moving the marker into the framework's Info.plist rather than dropping it:
Worth settling here rather than in two places, since the options are mutually exclusive. Note the Apple and Android sides differ in what is available: an XCFramework has an Info.plist to carry a custom key, while the Android output is a plain jniLibs directory with nowhere equivalent to put one — so "move it into Info.plist" would leave the two platforms signalling auto-linking in different ways, whereas removing the requirement entirely (this issue as filed) keeps them symmetric.
The marker file is written in two places, both of which would change either way:
