Research direction

Start with the public reader implementation, the app's test tooling, and the selected framework's profiling tools. Define reproducible cold/warm startup, document-opening, scrolling, and language-switch measurements with the stated device, build, fixture, network, and repeat details. Done means stored procedures, baseline results, traces separating rendering, parsing, and network costs, and regression thresholds based on measured variance.

Description

android difficulty: advanced enhancement help wanted needs testing

Roadmap: #76

Goal

Establish reproducible performance evidence before proposing optimization work.

Acceptance criteria

  • Measure cold/warm startup, opening a representative document, scrolling a long article, and switching languages.
  • Record build type, device/emulator configuration, fixture size, network conditions, and repeat counts.
  • Capture enough traces to distinguish rendering, parsing, and network costs.
  • Store the benchmark procedure and baseline results with the app's test tooling.
  • Propose regression thresholds based on measured variance and open separate issues for demonstrated bottlenecks.

Start: Public reader implementation and the selected framework's profiling tools. Do not present emulator measurements as production field metrics.

Prerequisites: #84, #85.
