Start by reviewing the Copilot for Eclipse MCP server configuration and authentication callback handling, then inspect the error logs attached to the issue and compare the Eclipse flow with a working MCP client. Determine why authentication succeeds but no tools appear, and confirm the fix by reproducing the reported setup and verifying that the MCP tools are listed after redirect.

We have deployed a third-party MCP for SAP BW development in the central hosting setup: https://github.com/dnic-dev/bw-modeling-mcp/blob/main/docs/CENTRAL-HOSTING-SETUP.md

The MCP works well with other MCP clients, such as VS Code, however, using it with the Copilot for Eclipse plugin we have some issues. We want to make it work within Eclipse as this is the main IDE for our developers for BW modeling work.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Copilot for Eclipse (I'm on the latest 2026-09 release)
  2. Add the tool:

  1. The plugin redirects successfully to the login/authentication page as all other MCP clients do as well. However, after beeing redirected back to teh Eclipse UI, I can see no tools:

What surprises me the most is that it is actually working with other clients - that makes me think the copilot plugin does not completely adhere to the MCP protocol.
