User impact

Readers choosing manual issuance are directed to the wrong actor for approval. Holder offer acceptance alone cannot perform issuer approval. The default automaticIssuance:true path is not itself blocked by this note.

Affected documentation and ownership

  • Intended versions: page environment pins select Agent 2.0.0 (5865d9470dc5ce6631aec780e7cf63d4f454555a); SDK checkout selects v6.6.0 (1a9da8135ec5745bca182904f0a1703d7be6d1a2). Matching pins, not latest releases, govern this comparison.
  • Affected text: automaticIssuance note

Observed versus expected

The note says: “automaticIssuance is optional. It can also be manually triggered and confirmed by the Holder.” At the pinned version, setting automaticIssuance:false instead requires manual approval by the issuer via API, separately from holder offer acceptance. Expected: identify the correct actor and operation for the optional branch without conflating it with holder consent.

Evidence and reproduction

Compare automaticIssuance parameter contract, manual issue-credential endpoint path, issuer operation description, and controller calling acceptCredentialRequest.

This is an actor/API contradiction, not an exercised manual-issuance workflow.

Verification used Python 3.13.15 text/HTML inspection of immutable public sources and deployed text. No repository code, compiler/build, service request or browser test was run; deployment commit identity is not exposed.

Existing work checked

Fully paginated open/closed issue-and-PR inventories in docs, cloud-agent and sdk-ts, plus title/body/comment searches by page/component/root cause and relevant discussion/patch reads. Searched Quick Start, automaticIssuance and manual/issuance. docs PR #60 introduces this note rather than correcting its actor; subsequent Quick Start patches #145, #159, #196 and #223 do not repair it. cloud-agent #938 concerns WSL/DIDComm configuration/runtime stalls, not this actor description. No matching open repair was found.

Acceptance criteria

  • The optional branch identifies issuer approval when automatic issuance is disabled, separately from holder acceptance.
  • Check the text against Agent 2.0.0 parameter/endpoint contracts without implying that a holder approves issuance on the issuer's behalf.
