Start by reading docs/updates.md#hosting-and-publishing to learn the current signed feed, immutable archive URL, retained image and feed cache requirements, then look at how the R2 development URL is produced and consumed in the release/publish scripts. Issue #7 tracks the wider effort and holds context this one assumes. Done means desktop downloads and the update feed resolve from the new custom domain while all four documented behaviors in updates.md still hold; expect this to need maintainer input on DNS/infra credentials.

Move to a custom download domain before wider stable distribution. The current public R2 development URL is rate-limited and intended for development traffic.
Preserve the signed feed, immutable archive URLs, retained old images, and feed cache behavior described in the desktop update procedure.
