GitHub Actions automatically blocks the risky pull_request_target trigger in public repositories by default, protecting your secrets and build pipeline from potential exploits. You keep full control—explicitly allow the trigger in your Actions policies whenever your workflows specifically need it.
Expected Outcome
Public repositories will have safer default settings for GitHub Actions workflows. This change reduces the risk of attackers stealing repository secrets or compromising the build pipeline by executing untrusted code from pull requests, while still allowing teams to enable the trigger when they have a legitimate need.
