Start with the TaskInstance record and find where hiddenPredicates and visiblePredicates are stored as String and where consultString is called. Check how checkTask reads the predicates, since it will need the parsed form. Done means hiddenPredicates holds the consultString result, and visiblePredicates keeps two fields, one display string and one parsed program, with existing tests still passing.

And even for visiblePredicates it probably makes sense to "cache" its consultString result in the TaskInstance. That is, instead of one, there would be two fields in that record: one for the string as to be displayed to students as task text and one for the parsed program as to be used during checkTask.
