Use case

On Linux desktop touchscreens, a GNOME three-finger workspace-switch gesture performed over the app window permanently wedges the TabBarView subtree's pointer input. The compositor steals the touch sequence mid-drag, the drag-time ignorePointer gate that Flutter engages over TabBarView/PageView content (see flutter/flutter#148318 for the gating mechanism) is never released, and from then on every control inside the tab content is unclickable until app restart — in our case a clinical app's primary action button. Controls outside the subtree (including the TabBar itself) keep working, which is how we isolated it with tap probes inside vs outside the subtree.

We're preparing a minimal-Dart-repro report against flutter/flutter for the underlying bug and will cross-link it here.

Request

Flutter's escape hatch is TabBarView(physics: NeverScrollableScrollPhysics()): with no drag recognizer, the subtree never engages the pointer gate and this failure class disappears entirely. flet 0.86 exposes no physics (or other swipe toggle) on TabBarView.

Could a physics property — or a simpler swipeable: bool — be added to TabBarView? Tabs would then switch via TabBar taps only, which survive the gesture fine. For touch-first desktop deployments this is also a robustness win independent of the upstream bug (accidental horizontal drags can no longer half-switch pages).

Environment

flet / flet-charts / flet-desktop 0.86.4 (Flutter 3.44.8), Linux (GNOME on Wayland, app under Xwayland), touchscreen hardware. Happy to provide the probe event logs.
