Summary

PerlOnJava fails HTML::ToDocBook 0.0301's XML transformation output comparisons, while the same distribution's full test suite passes under system Perl. The failure appears to involve PerlOnJava's XML::LibXSLT compatibility implementation.

Evidence

  • CPAN run: 20261026-163826-15395
  • Distribution: html2dbk 0.0301 (HTML::ToDocBook)
  • PerlOnJava: 3 of 10 assertions fail in t/20tfiles.t; the three failed assertions compare generated XML against expected files (tests 2, 4, and 6).
  • During the failing transforms, PerlOnJava emits repeated No template for ... messages for DocBook nodes including chapter, title, sect1, and simpara.
  • System Perl 5.42.2: the full target suite passes, including t/20tfiles.t.
  • The target requires Getopt::ArgvFile, HTML::SimpleParse, XML::LibXML, and XML::LibXSLT. The system-Perl oracle installed the missing prerequisites and completed successfully.
  • Interpreter backend: not yet independently verified.

Expected behavior

The three transformations in t/20tfiles.t should generate the same DocBook XML as the distribution's expected output files, as they do under system Perl.

Investigation direction

Check the Java XML::LibXSLT provider's template dispatch and XML result handling against this transformation. Add focused project regression coverage for the confirmed behavior.
