What did you do?

I integrated Evolution Go into a group management platform that schedules WhatsApp group actions.

In the scheduling flow, I need to programmatically change group settings between:

  • open group (all members can send messages)
  • closed group / announcement mode (only admins can send messages)

I checked the Evolution Go provider behavior and could not find a working endpoint to update the group announcement setting.

I also compared this with another provider integration (Evolution API), where this capability is available.

What did you expect?

I expected Evolution Go to provide an endpoint or supported operation to update the WhatsApp group announcement mode, allowing applications to open or close a group programmatically.

What did you observe instead of what you expected?

Evolution Go currently does not expose a supported endpoint for changing the group announcement mode (open/close group).

Because of that, integrations can support some group actions such as description/photo updates, but cannot support group open/close settings through Evolution Go.

This creates an inconsistency for applications that support multiple providers, because the feature exists with Evolution API but not with Evolution Go.

Current behavior suggests that Evolution Go supports some group management actions (such as description/photo in some integrations), but does not support updating the group announcement mode.

  2. whether there is an alternative endpoint/workaround
  3. whether support for this action is planned
