Start with the base validate() in the install services, then the minVersion constants in the git, nix and vp tools that the issue says to replace. The minVersion metadata field comes from #7771, which must land first, and the issue does not say how versions are compared, so check the tool's versioning code. Done means a version below the minimum fails with a message naming the minimum, and version resolution skips releases below it. Docs in docs/tools.md should list each minimum.

What would you like containerbase to do?
Make the CLI reject tool versions below the minVersion of the tool metadata (#7771), instead of installing them.
Proposal
- The base
validate()of the install services checks the requested version against the tool'sminVersion, compared with the tool's versioning, and fails with a clear message naming the minimum. git,nixandvpdrop their own minimum constants and use the shared field.- Version resolution doesn't resolve a partial version to a release below the minimum.
- Docs: the minimum per tool in
docs/tools.mdor the tool docs.
Breaking change
Images and Renovate setups which install an older version than the minimum stop working, so this ships in a major release, with the minimums listed in the release notes.
