Start by locating the object-import pipeline and the model that stores catalog names and alternate designations. Use related issue #408 to understand how catalogs are represented in the object list, then inspect import fixtures or tests for objects such as double stars carrying STF designations. The refactor is complete when each alternate designation family can be selected like Messier or NGC and its objects can be found by number alone.

Treat alternate catalog designations as full catalogs at import time.

Many objects carry alternate designations from other catalogs (for example STF / Struve numbers on double stars). Today those only exist as extra names on the object, so finding one means a name search. Refactor the object import so that each alternate designation family becomes a catalog in its own right. A user can then pick the family once (STF) and type only the number, the same way Messier or NGC works.
