Start by reading the release process and the code that builds and selects tools in rules_python; then identify one checklist item with a concrete entry point before taking it on. This is an umbrella bug for tracking all the work to setup infrastructure for pre-building native binaries and using them.

  • s390x builds
  • Integrate prebuilt binaries into release process
    • upload binaries to releases
    • update bzl code to refer to uploaded urls
    • upload prebuilt artifact manifest telling their toolchain setup information (e.g. exec compatibility)
    • include tool manifest in the release archive
    • upload checksums of prebuilt artifacts
