The issue identifies the profiles show and profiles list handlers as the failing entry points; inspect how each resolves the profile and uses rt.Globals.Profile. Run the reproduction steps with Python 3, patch, and Go, then confirm both commands select qa-chosen, the saved profile remains unchanged, and an explicit positional name still takes precedence. A linked pull request already contains a fix.

Reproduce

  • Run python3 reproduce-all.py from the reproduction source; it creates two credential-free profiles, with qa-base active.
  • Run rc profiles show --profile qa-chosen --json and rc profiles list --profile qa-chosen --json.
  • Both select qa-base instead of qa-chosen.

Reproduced October 22: 0381e9169458, Go 1.26.10, macOS arm64.

Fix, tests and before/after demo.
