The three household-size parameters (ubi_num_017_mat, ubi_num_1864_mat, ubi_num_65p_mat) are hardcoded in parameters.py. Start by reading how that file loads its values, then check how default_parameters.json is read, and move the three keys into the JSON. Done when the values come from the JSON, the model still runs with the same defaults, and the country-specific estimation step is either implemented or clearly scoped as a follow-up. Ask a maintainer first, since the issue has had no response in about five years.

Currently, the following parameters needed to compute household UBI amounts are hardcoded into parameters.py:

  • ubi_num_017_mat
  • ubi_num_1864_mat
  • ubi_num_65p_mat

These parameters should be specified in default_parameters.json. Country-specific models should contain code to estimate these parameter values given country demographic data.
