Hướng nghiên cứu

Start in newcat.c by reading the is_ft2000 branches of newcat_set_rx_bandwidth and newcat_get_rx_bandwidth. Check how those functions translate bandwidth values to SH0 steps and back, then compare their mode handling with the measurements in the issue. Done means the mappings match the measured values for CW/CWR, RTTY/RTTYR, PKTUSB/PKTLSB, and LSB/USB, while AM/FM behavior remains unchanged.

Mô tả

Summary

newcat_set_rx_bandwidth/newcat_get_rx_bandwidth's is_ft2000 branches
(newcat.c) carry the comment "We need details on the widths here, manuals
lack information," and bucket the FT-2000's real 32-step SH0 filter
range into only 3-4 Hz values per mode. I've bench-measured the real
values against actual FT-2000 hardware (rig ID 1029, hamlib 4.7.1) while
building a remote-control panel around it, and wanted to share them.

What I measured

SH0 steps are 1-31 (rig never returns 0 on read). Per filter family:

CW/CWR (step → Hz):

1:25 2:50 3:100 4:200 5:300 6:400 7:500 8:800 9:1200 10:1400
11:1700 12:1700 13:2000 14:2000 15:2400 16-31: 2400 (flat)

RTTY/RTTYR and PKTUSB/PKTLSB (FSK/AFSK 45-100 baud, and data modes —
confirmed identical to RTTY on the real rig via front-panel check, not
assumed):

1:25 2:50 3:50 4:100 5:100 6:100 7:200 8:200 9:300 10:300
11:300 12:400 13:400 14:400 15:500 16:500 17:500 18:800 19:800
20:800 21:1200 22:1200 23:1200 24:1400 25:1400 26:1700 27:1700
28:2000 29:2000 30:2400 31:2400

LSB/USB (voice SSB) — measured independently, then spot-checked
live against the rig and confirmed accurate:

1:200 2:400 3:600 4:850 5:1100 6:1350 7:1500 8:1650 9:1800
10:1950 11:2100 12:2100 13:2250 14:2250 15:2400 16:2400 17:2400
18:2450 19:2450 20:2500 21:2600 22:2700 23:2800 24:2900 25:3000
26:3200 27:3400 28:3600 29:3800 30:4000 31:4000

CW and LSB/USB are clearly not the same curve scaled — CW is flat at
2400 Hz for the top half of the pot's travel, while LSB/USB keeps
climbing all the way to 4000 Hz. RTTY/PKT spreads a narrow value set
evenly across the full range instead of clustering low like CW does.

AM/FM aren't affected — matches existing behavior, no SH0-driven DSP
width on this rig in those modes.

Offer

Happy to open a PR against newcat_set_rx_bandwidth/get_rx_bandwidth's
is_ft2000 branches replacing the coarse bucket boundaries with exact
per-step lookup tables, if that's a change you'd want. Can also test
against real hardware if anything needs verifying.
