The payload names no source files, so begin by finding where the Kotlin Android keyboard handles long-press popup characters and how a popup selection is committed to the text field. Done means a long-press released without choosing a symbol dismisses the popup without inserting anything, and the change is verified on a device or emulator.

Feature description

Perhaps it is already there and I did not find it, but I would like to be able to go back to the main keyboard without selecting anything after long-pressing a key.
Sometimes I long-press a key by mistake and at that point at least the default symbol is selected and typed into the text. So, I have to delete it before going ahead.
I think it would be nice if there were the possibility to exit from “long-press mode” without selecting any of the available symbols. Maybe an empty or a return field could be added at the end of the list to do that.

Why do you want this feature?

To have a cleaner and simpler user experience.
