The issue names no files or tests; start by tracing the flow for creating and saving a contact, then inspect how the app chooses a storage location. Reproduce on Android 16 if possible and check whether the created contact remains available the next day. Done means new contacts persist and users can choose where they are saved.

Steps to reproduce the bug
  1. Creating a new contact
  2. Trying to access the contact again the next day.
  3. The contact regularly disappears.
Expected behavior

New contacts should be saved permanently. It should be possible to choose where they are saved.

Actual behavior

New contacts are only retained on the current day; by the next day, they have mysteriously disappeared. I don’t know how long this has been going on or how many contacts I’ve already lost. Furthermore, it is no longer possible to select a storage location for new contacts, and this option is no longer displayed for existing contacts.
