Start by reading the User Interface Preferences settings for package lists and the discover, updates, and installed views. The request is to add a button that lets users select columns in those views; done when column selection is easy to find and can be toggled across the requested views. Instead of having the columns so hidden in the settings:
Settings → User Interface Preferences → Package lists → Show the release date on package lists
Better add a button to select different columns in the discover/updates/installed views
