Research direction

Start with the sort command’s argument parsing and tests for --compress-program; the issue’s reproduction shows that passing the option twice is accepted, while GNU sort rejects it. Add a regression test for repeated options and check that sort reports an error for the second one.

Description

U - sort

Hi, uutils mainteners

this can be reproduced via

relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$ ./sort --compress-program pwd --compress-program python3 a
hello
relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$ gnusort --compress-program pwd --compress-program python3 a
gnusort: multiple compress programs specified
relunsec@relunsec:~/software/coreutils/target/debug$

as you can see uu sort accept multiple ones, gnu rejects it
