Research direction

Start with group_by_expiry in engine.py around line 51 and inspect how it handles dates when no valid expiry exists. Check nearby tests for missing or partial data, then add coverage for the chosen warning or error behavior. Done means this fallback is reported or raised and the tests pass.

Description

bug

Severity: minor · Source: BUGS_FASTBT.md (2026-10-09)

A date with no expiry on or after it is grouped under its own date (engine.py:51, nearest = min(valid) if valid else d), giving a one-day period. This happens with missing or partial data. No warning is logged.

Fix: log a warning, or raise.
