Research direction

Start by locating the hover-lift styles and the dropdown toggle styles that apply when the menu has the show class; the issue does not name their files or a test. Check how the hover state changes while moving the pointer from the button to the menu items. Done when the button stays lifted and the dropdown does not shift during that interaction.

Describe the issue

When I apply the class hover-lift to a menu toggle button, the button will lift when I hover over it and when I click the button, the menu dropdown correctly positions itself below the lifted button, but when I move the mouse to the menu items, the lift effect stops and the menu and button shifts downward.

  • To reproduce, create a menu toggle button with a menu and add class hover-lift to the button.
  • Hover mouse over the button. The button lifts and stays lifted when clicked
  • Move mouse to menu items. The lift effect is gone and menu shifts down.
Reduced test cases

I think that if hover-lift is used on the menu toggle button, it should stay lifted when the show class is also applied. this will prevent the menu from shifting when the user moves the mouse to select an item.
