Research direction

Start with the datepicker documentation and the combobox page’s form submission section, both referenced by the issue. Check the datepicker’s existing options and how its value is submitted, then document all available data-bs- attributes and explain the submitted value. Done means both topics are covered in the documentation.

Description

docs feature has-pr html needs-decision v6
Prerequisites
Proposal
  • documentation should list all available data-bs-... attributes for the datepicker
  • documentation should explain how the value is sent to the server upon form submission, similar to the form submission secion on the combobox page
Motivation and context

It is clear that there are more than the two currently mentioned data attributes for the datepicker. The section "min & max dates" mentions at least data-bs-date-min and data-bs-date-max.

The submission should be documented because my expectation, that it would behave like an <input type="date"> does not appear to be true. If I tested correctly, the submitted value is the localized string version (where I expected an ISO 8601 / RFC 3339 format).
