Research direction

Start by reviewing build-package.sh around line 816 and the linked GitHub Actions run, focusing on the intermittent bash SIGSEGV after the zstd dependency is skipped. Reproduce the build and gather enough information to identify the responsible component; done means the crash cause is isolated and a verified fix or actionable diagnosis is documented.
