Research direction

Read .github/workflows/R-CMD-check.yaml and check whether a pak release newer than 0.11.1 is available, as specified in the issue. Once it is, remove pak-version: devel from the windows-11-arm matrix entry and run or inspect that job; done means setup-r-dependencies completes in a couple of minutes.

Description

internal-code

In #1304 we set pak-version: devel on the windows-11-arm matrix entry in .github/workflows/R-CMD-check.yaml because the stable pak (0.11.1, 2026-07-22) predates pkgcache's support for the clang-aarch64 package type (r-lib/pkgcache#142, 2026-07-30) and builds every dependency from source there (27 minutes instead of 2). Once a pak release newer than 0.11.1 is out, we should drop the pak-version line and check that the ARM job's setup-r-dependencies step still takes a couple of minutes. More details in r-lib/pkgdepends#486.
