Research direction

Start by reproducing the failure in the downloaded Scratch Android app on ChromeOS with the Lego Boost extension, using the listed ChromeOS and app versions. Check the Nearby Devices, location, and Bluetooth permission behavior during discovery; done means the app can scan for and connect to the Lego Boost Move Hub without immediately showing “Try Again”.

Description

Expected Behavior

Successful connection to the Lego Boost Move Hub, using the Lego Boost extension.

Actual Behavior

When using the downloaded Scratch Android app on ChromeOS, attempting to scan for the Lego Boost Move Hub fails instantly. Clicking "Start Searching" immediately displays the "Try Again" screen with zero delay, suggesting a runtime sandbox block rather than an actual Bluetooth timeout.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Scratch Android app on a Chromebook running a recent ChromeOS version.
  2. Ensure Location Access is enabled for the system. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  3. Grant "Nearby Devices" permissions to the app as requested by the system.
  4. Open a project, add the Lego Boost extension, and click "Start Searching".
  5. The screen instantly defaults to "Try Again".
